Amy L. Lawrenson’s practice focuses on commercial real estate, construction and renewable energy matters. She represents developers, investors and owners of commercial real estate in all aspects of real estate including acquisition, financing, sale and development of real property, leasing, management, land use development and zoning, mineral rights, title review and construction contracting. Amy regularly represents developers, investors and lenders of wind and solar energy generation projects. A frequent lecturer on all aspects of real estate law, Amy’s presentations include topics related to purchasing, leasing and title law. She currently serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, and is also the Chair of the Women’s Initiative group.

Amy earned her Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Minnesota in 2004. Amy completed the Nebraska State Bar Association Leadership Academy in 2014, is a member of the 58th Class of ICAN Influence, a member of the 40th Class of Leadership Omaha, and is a member of Class 8 of the Women’s Fund of Omaha Circles. She was selected as a 2018 recipient of the Midlands Business Journal’s 17th annual 40 Under 40 Awards and a 2022 recipient of the Omaha Jaycees Ten Outstanding Young Omahans.

Prior to joining the firm, Amy practiced in the insurance industry, where she focused on the development, negotiation and regulatory approval of institutional investment products such as funding agreements, traditional and synthetic guaranteed investment contracts and defined benefit products. Amy hails from a small farming community in southeastern South Dakota.

  • Representing clients across Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota in negotiation and drafting of retail, restaurant, office, industrial and agricultural leases
  • Representing several large shopping centers in Omaha, Nebraska on all leasing matters
  • Preparing due diligence and risk analyses for major real estate transactions involving complex title matters
  • Advising clients regarding local law matters, including municipal codes, zoning ordinances, comprehensive plans and compliance with open meeting and public records laws

  • Representing utility clients and developers of small and commercial scale renewable energy facilities in all matters related to the siting and permitting of generation and transmission facilities and negotiation and drafting of landowner leases and easements, including solar, wind, transmission, buffer, setback, access, overhang, nondisturbance and other related agreements
  • Representing clients in the negotiation of agreements related to oil, gas and other mineral rights, including leases, releases and nondisturbance agreements
  • Representing Fortune 500 companies in transactions involving collateral located in almost every state in the United States
  • Representing numerous commercial, non-profit and hospital clients in connection with land acquisition and development of new corporate headquarters
