107th Nebraska Legislature, First Session, Reconvenes January 6, 2021
The 107th Nebraska Legislature will convene January 6, 2021. There will be four senators entirely new to the legislative body. Three more senators are returning after being term-limited, including the previous Speaker, Senator Mike Flood.
Because it will be the first legislative session of the biennium, no bills carried over from the last session and senators will only consider newly-introduced bills.
We do not know yet how the calendar will develop given the COVID-19 pandemic. Nebraska law requires the Legislature to convene on January 6, but when they return for Day 2 and beyond remains to be seen. The body will almost certainly elect a Speaker and Committee Chairpersons, at a minimum.
